An electric skateboard controlled using body weight.

“PRO-Board” stands for Pressure Relied Orientation Skateboard. This project was done by me and my friends in the summer of 2013 which was after our first year in college. The outline of our project is as follows.
Studies show that one of the major cause of Air pollution is commuting short (up to 1-2 Kms) distances by cars or taxies. Hence we thought of creating a personal utility vehicle which has zero carbon emission, portable than a bicycle and which is easy and fun to ride. This personal utility vehicle is called as ‘pro board’.
Pro board stands for ‘Pressure Relied orientation skateboard’. It is basically a skateboard which operates on the amount of pressure the rider applies on the pressure pads. High torque motors drive the skateboard forward. When the rider wishes to accelerate the board, he leans forward and puts pressure on the front sensor pad, which senses the amount of pressure. This analog pressure data is converted into digital signals which is then feed into the heart of the board, i.e. the Microcontroller.
The microcontroller then directs the motors to accelerate. The acceleration of motors is directly proportional to the amount of pressure applied by the rider on pressure pads. Hence as the rider leans forward to put pressure on pressure pads, the motors along with the skateboard accelerates forward resulting in swift motion.
